The tea bar and tuck shop on Saturday morning is run by the Friends of Havering Music School, a registered charity whose sole aim is to support Havering Music School.
The majority of the Friends’ income comes from the profit made by the tuck shop and tea bar, so that every cup of coffee or packet of sweets that is bought on a Saturday morning supports the work of the music school, so a very big thank you to all the parents, carers and children who use our service.
The money goes towards workshops, instruments, sheet music, and bursaries. There are a number of ways parents and carers can support the Friends:
- Use the tea bar and tuck shop!
- Support the Friends’ Christmas Raffle: either by buying tickets
or offering prizes.
- Support the Friends‘ sheet music sales by making a purchase
or by donating music that your child doesn’t use any more.
- The Friends would also welcome parents/carers who can offer
a regular, reliable commitment to help run the tea bar. You
don’t necessarily have to serve in the tea bar, there are other
tasks that only require a ten minute commitment, e.g. setting
up the tables, wiping down at the end of a session, picking up
It is a real chance to contribute to the fabric of the music school as well as having an opportunity to get to know other parents. (We have social events too!)
The Friends tea bar is a friendly place to be, but please be aware that we are parent/carers and not members of staff.
