Instrument Loans
Havering Music School’s instrument loan scheme allows children taking lessons as part of the school’s teaching provision to see whether playing is for them without the cost of buying an instrument up front.
Over 1,000 instruments are available for loan at an annual cost of £45.50 (price correct at April 2024). Electrical instruments, pianos and percussion instruments are not available for hire. Instruments need to be collected from the music school and signed for.
For school based tuition, instrumental loan is organised through your child’s instrumental teacher in the first instance.
Parents and carers are responsible for the safekeeping of instruments and are advised to insure them against loss or damage.
Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme
The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme enables pupils at Local Authority schools to purchase instruments without paying VAT.
Further information and advice is available from the Music School.
