Exams

Havering Music School teaches both the curriculum of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College.

Students take their graded examinations or diplomas at the Music Centre towards the end of each term. Students preparing for exams can be offered additional aural tuition. Entry for an examination is dependant on the Music School receiving payment for the examination and a signed consent/entry form in line with our deadlines.

Please note that not all children progress at the same rate and will only be entered for examination when their teacher is confident that they have reached the required standard.

Exams of Grade 6 and above are also accredited for UCAS points which can contribute towards university entrance requirements.

We regret that we cannot take requests for specific exam dates or times. Pupils must be available to do the exam anytime during the given exam period (except weekends or bank holidays). It will not be possible to change times once the exam appointments have been issued. If you decide to withdraw your child (for any reason other than sickness) after the exam fees have been paid to the Board, you will be unable to claim a refund or deferment.
