Pupils from a famous Indonesian Performing Arts School joined Havering Music School for an afternoon of shared music making. Senior students from SMKN10 Bandung performed traditional dances, accompanied by gamelan and showed a traditional puppet play. They then taught pupils from Havering Music School a traditional dance and music.
Pupils from Havering performed Libertango with a surprise tango performance from parents and Mrs Flanders. To finish the afternoon, both groups ‘jammed’ Libertango.
Mrs Tweddle, Head of Havering Saturday Music School said afterwards: “What a joyous afternoon. We are really lucky to have such links with the Indonesian Embassy. The fact that our pupils are able to join together with other like-minded pupils from across the globe is truly fantastic. We look forward to other performances.”
